The CIPD defines a performance review as an opportunity for an individual employee to engage in a dialogue with their line manager about their performance, their development and the support they require. It doesn’t sound difficult, does it? So why do so many managers dread the whole performance review process?
We at Video Arts want to make the process a little easier for you, so here is a little checklist can go through to ensure your performance review ticks all the right boxes:
- Structure the session
- Create the right atmosphere
- Praise their work
- Ask them where they think they could do better
- Listen! Employees should be doing at least half of the talking
- No surprises
