    The aim

To arm individuals with the skills to make good, reasoned decisions.

    About the programme

More and more people at work are being asked to make decisions for themselves. However, these decisions often need to be made at increasing speed and under pressure.

Set in the 'decision lab', this engaging programme uses live action and animation to illustrate Mark Brown's 'red-thinking' phase. It will get an audience thinking about how they make decisions, and where they go wrong.

Useful as a 15-minute energiser, or to support a full course, this programme will get every level of staff focused on improving the quality of their decision-making.

    1. An introduction to decision making http://http.videoarts.com/product/RED1 L01/An-introduction-to-decision-making?ver=** http://http.videoarts.com/images/products/RED1 L01.jpg
Introduces the judgment and decision making, or -Red- phase of 'Ideas into action'. People are good at making most decisions. Most decisions are routine, they are ones we have made time and again (visual example include choices made about what to wear, how to get to work, routine tasks at work). But there are decisions that we encounter that are unclear and uncertain. Decis... (read more)

Problem: Losing sight of your goal or criteria during decision making, or 'goal blindness', often leads to poor decisions. Solution: The -water test- checks that you are crystal-clear about your goal and criteria. (Vis... (read more)

Group-think (assertiveness). Problem: 'Group think' is conformity pressure in groups. There is pressure to bow to the majority view, and the associated fear of rejection. (Visual image of sheep making a decision). Especially dangerous if a group has a strong leader, a high degree of cohesion and finds itself cut off from outside opinion and information. Disastrous decisions can... (read more)
