  • Overview

    Learning aims

To introduce the fundamentals of empowered, self-managing teams into an organisation.

    About the video

Across many organisations the hierarchical structures, particularly at lower levels, are crumbling and the skills of managers are being shared across teams. This story shows how a team which starts out with no idea of how to work together learns to succeed through applying team skills. Each individual has their own wants, needs and priorities, but works to set them aside in order to lay down some teamwork ground rules.

The clear, structured approach to team skills conveys key learning points, such as: how to communicate and express opinions; how to put personal priorities to one side and stick to the subject at hand; how to respect one another; and how to participate together to resolve problems in a structured way, considering all the options.

Anyone new to management, working in a non-hierarchical business, or those in a group of people thrown together for the first time, will learn valuable lessons from the team solution.

    Learning outcomes

-Learn how to function effectively either as a member, or a leader, of a team
-Your organisation will benefit from people working together more effectively
