L&D goes to Hollywood with Video Arts backing

People are being urged to unleash their inner film director for the 2009 Learning at Work Day competition, which launches today (16 April 2009).

The Campaign for Learning, which organises Learning at Work Day (14 May 2009), are running the Skills Shorts competition to encourage a fun and entertaining perspective on the world of workplace learning and skills.

To be eligible for the competition, films will need to highlight learning and skills. To make it even more fun they will also need to use hands as the main characters. The most entertaining film uploaded by 30 May will win its maker a Flip Video and a morning on a film set with Video Arts, the sponsors of the competition. Instructions on how to enter and full terms and conditions can be found on the Learning at Work Day website www.learningatworkday.com

All eligible entries will be hosted on the Learning at Work Day YouTube Channel www.youtube.com/learningatworkday To get the ball rolling, the Campaign for Learning has uploaded its own efforts based on famous films – see Dracula in ‘Cutting your teeth on the job’, and ‘Learning at Work Day Brief Encounter’.

Julia Wright, Head of Marketing at the Campaign for Learning said, ‘Learning at Work Day is all about inspiring people and organisations to see the benefits of learning related to the workplace. We hope that the film competition will do this in an entertaining way, as well as offer people the chance to uncover their film making talents.’

Martin Addison, Managing Director at Video Arts added, “Video Arts is delighted to be partnering with the Campaign for Learning to sponsor the Skills Shorts competition. Film is a great way of getting a learning message across in an engaging way and we look forward to being entertained and informed by the competition entries.”
