Is this the death of the training DVD?

The use of DVDs to deliver video in training has been declining ever since new technologies made it easier and cheaper to use digital video via streaming or download.

Recent research from Video Arts showed that 38% of public and private sector organisations were planning to increase the amount of online video streaming they use. More than half (56%) intend to offer more e-learning and interactive self-study courses.

Martin Addison, managing director at Video Arts, said: "Technology is opening up new avenues for learning. Digital video and e-learning are growth areas because they make learning available any time and anywhere."

In response, Video Arts has introduced a new ‘membership model’ to create improved choice, value and convenience for organisations and consultants who want to use its video learning content.

Martin Addison, Managing Director of Video Arts, said: “Essentially, we have the world’s ultimate video-based learning library and we’ve created new ways for people to access the content they want, when they want it and at a price they can afford. They can stream it or download it. The membership model is a proven concept in the consumer market and it’s a natural extension for us to offer our resources this way.”

Video Arts has enhanced its ‘online rental’ option which now allows any organisation to rent an entire programme digitally for a week, for £95, with unlimited use during the rental period.

A separate membership scheme and a range of rental options are available for organisations and individuals that still want to use DVDs.
